From the recording Alien Summer
Lyrics
Keep Running
I followed her to her car, snapping pictures from afar
Her face, downward angle, and she turned around, looking
And into me she was running, yeah into me she come running
So with her I was running and not knowing where I was going
Keep running she said, no I’ll not play your game
Take me by the hand, I don’t need this pain
Keep running, it’s not like that, what if we never turn back
All the way to our last day, not leaving out a single thing
And we can see what’s ahead, past the sign post up in red
And give all our lives to this running
The sidewalk approached, on the street we reproached
The reason we’d ever stop running
As ever grew near, the indecisive fear
Of what was to come of this running
She steadied her pace with a frightening grace
To suggest the intent of her cunning
What I’d blindly follow was a dream turning hollow
A life sentence to swallow, an occasion to wallow
In having no sense of direction
As surely as she’d begun, she was leaving me to run
Alone without her infection
The fevered haze where I’d first met her gaze
And the face of my imperfection
Keep running she said, no I’ll not play your game
Take me by the hand, I don’t need this pain
Keep running, it’s not like that, what if we never turn back
All the way to our last day, not leaving out a single thing
Keep running
